What Is The Cost Of Becoming A
Certified Repair Contractor?
The cost of the MWC training
program is $595. This entitles a business that meets the conditions above
to qualify up to two individuals to become certified within the company.
Additional individuals at a company can become certified for $195 each.
The training program is contained on VHS videotapes and includes study
guides. The certification test is taken online. The test can be taken up
to two times. Additional online tests cost $95 per attempt.
What Area Can I Expect To
Provide Repair Services In?
MWC will list you as a Certified
Repair Contractor for any state where your company has been properly
licensed, bonded, and insured.
How
will prices be established for repair on a Dryvit settlement home?
MWC is currently gathering
information and quotations on repairs which meet MWC’s “Repair
Standards and Options” criteria. The information will be compiled for
various areas of the country and used to render an estimated repair price
for homes in that geographic area.
When a home is selected and
approved for repairs, MWC will use the data to make an estimate of repair
costs. This information will be provided to the homeowner along with a
list of MWC-Certified contractors in that area. Once
certified, a contractor will be asked to provide quoted prices for
standard repairs. The prices quoted by the repair contractor will be
averaged into the quoted prices from other repair contractors in the
immediate area. When MWC
provides an estimated repair cost for a claimant to the settlement, the
pricing will be based on the average prices quoted by the certified repair
contractors in the claimant’s area.
Will
Dryvit pay for the cost of the repairs?
Based on the limits of the
proposed settlement, Dryvit will pay between 40% and 50% of the repair
costs based on Estimated Repairs Costs from MWC.
If the homeowner chooses to use a Certified Repair Contractor whose
estimate is above the Estimated Repair Cost Report, the additional cost
will be paid for by the claimant homeowner.
Repairs that are specified by MWC in order to qualify for the
MoistureFree Warranty will NOT include items such as:
-
Termination of the EIFS above grade
-
Modification of roof or chimney details not directly in contact
with the EIFS
-
Aesthetic modifications (I.E. color matching, staining, etc.)
-
Other modifications to the home not directly related to the EIFS
These excluded items will still be
strongly recommended by MWC and will be additional work that the Certified
Repair Contractor can repair, at the homeowner’s expense, at the time
the warranty modifications are being completed.
Are
the certified repair contractors required to honor the Estimated Repair
Costs provided by MWC?
No. The MWC repair estimate
represents the basis of a reimbursement
(40 – 50%) that the homeowner will receive from Dryvit upon completion,
inspection, and approval of the repairs required for the MoistureFree
Warranty. Each Certified Repair Contractor can “quote” the price they
believe is appropriate. However, the homeowner is required to pay
approximately one-half the cost of the Estimated Repair Cost and all of
the cost above the Estimated Repair Cost. If a Certified Repair Contractor
gives an actual quote which is higher than the Estimated Repair Cost, the
homeowner will be required to pay the difference. Therefore, a Certified
Repair Contractor who chooses to charge more than the Estimated Repair
Cost will have to convince the homeowner that their higher estimate for
repairs is based on the superiority of their work over other contractors.
What Is The Repair
Contractor’s Responsibility For The Repairs That Are Made?
A limited MWC 18-Month Repair Contractor
Guarantee will
be required on all repairs made by the Certified Repair Contractor which
relate to the Dryvit settlement. This guarantee will only apply to the
actual repair that was made to the home and does not apply to any other
area of the home that the Certified Repair Contractor did not repair. The
limited guarantee will only require the Certified Repair Contractor to
modify the failing area to bring it up to warranty standards. If it is
determined that the repaired area failed due to no fault of the repair
contractor, MoistureFree Warranty will be responsible for the cost of
additional modifications based on the terms of the MoistureFree Warranty-Dryvit
Settlement Edition.
